Target Now Sells Its Own Line of Very Inexpensive Wine

Target is revamping their entire inventory, and, thankfully for those over the age of 21, that includes adult beverages.

After adding multiple new brands in the fashion and home decor departments, the big box store is turning to alcoholic beverages: Target just announced that they will be selling an exclusive line of wines starting next month. The best part? Each bottle costs just $5. Yes, that’s just a couple more bucks than Trader Joe’s famed Two-Buck Chuck.

The new line, which will be available starting September 3 and called California Roots, includes five wine blends “carefully crafted with premium, California-grown grapes,” according to the press release. The assortment includes a Chardonnay that pairs well with cheeses and breads; a Pinot Grigio that’s perfect with fish or crisp salads; a Moscato that Target recommends as a complement to freshly picked berries; a Cabernet Sauvignon for lovers of a juicy steak; and a Red Blend that is described as “smooth berry and cherry flavors with hints of spice offer the perfect antidote to the workweek.” Or, you could always go ahead and use this inexpensive offering in one of your own recipes.

Target stores already sell beer and wine (which they count as some of of their top-growing categories in the press release), but California Roots will be their first exclusive alcohol to the store. “We’re out to give our guests even more reasons to love Target—including exclusive products they can’t find anywhere else,” said Jeff Burt, senior vice president of food and beverage, in a statement.

Clear some space to stock up and break out the glassware because California Roots wines launch at more than 1,100 Target stores nationwide September 3. We’ll cheers to a special Labor Day weekend launch.
